Free Chromatic Tuner with Custom Tuning

Use LiveFretboard as a free online guitar tuner with microphone input. The chromatic pitch readout shows the nearest note; tuner mode measures against the open string you select or automatically detects the closest string in your tuning. The cents meter and note turn green within five cents of the target. Choose Standard, Drop D, DADGAD or other presets, or build a custom guitar tuning with your own notes, octaves and string count. Named tunings are saved locally.

Make room for your instrument

Find your way around.

01

Start with your strings.

Choose a tuning, or build your own for any instrument with up to 24 strings. The top row is your highest string in standard tuning.

02

Let the fretboard listen.

Enable your microphone and play one clear note at a time. Red marks your live note; the meter shows how close you are to pitch. Position is an estimate based on your previous note.

03

Follow a little curiosity.

Choose a scale, explore connected keys, or practice finding notes. Click the board to hear synthesized guitar tones. Headphones prevent playback from reaching your microphone.

Your microphone audio stays in your browser. Nothing is recorded or uploaded.
