Privacy policy

How LiveFretboard handles microphone audio, browser storage, website requests, and your messages.

Last updated:

Microphone audio

Microphone access is optional and requires browser permission. LiveFretboard analyzes audio on your device to estimate pitch; the app does not upload or save audio recordings. Use Stop microphone or revoke access in your browser’s site settings to stop listening.

Data in your browser

Local storage remembers settings, custom tunings, and theme. Session storage keeps tuning drafts, note history, and microphone preference for the tab’s session. This is not a cloud backup. Delete tunings or clear history in the app, or clear this site’s browser data to remove saved preferences.

Website requests and cookies

LiveFretboard uses Google Analytics to understand website usage, including page visits and interactions. Google receives usage and browser/device information, and the Google tag may store analytics cookies in your browser. You can manage cookies in your browser settings. Our hosting service also receives connection information such as IP address and requested URL to deliver and secure the site. Microphone audio is processed on your device and is not sent to Google Analytics.

Messages and retention

If you email us, we receive your address and message to respond to your request. Email service providers handle delivery. Do not send passwords or sensitive recordings. Browser data remains until you or your browser delete it. Correspondence is kept as needed to handle requests and applicable obligations; contact us about access or deletion.

Your choices and questions

You can use the visual fretboard without a microphone. Depending on applicable law, your rights may include access, correction, deletion, or a complaint to a data protection authority. Contact LiveFretboard at the email below with privacy questions. We will update this page when our practices change.
